Synopsis: Movie-loving criminal Mick wants to change his life. When he discovers that Francis Overley, the writer of his favorite film, is in town, he and his girlfriend Grace abduct him in an effort to coerce him into becoming Mick’s mentor. What begins as a kidnapping develops into a mutually advantageous partnership, as the three collaborate on a screenplay they hope will launch Mick’s career, and allow Francis to return from his self-imposed exile from Hollywood. This show weaves together live performance and film clips, created by local actors and filmmakers especially for this event.

Meet the Cast:

Ebbe Roe Smith is a popular Portland actor and writer. He recently starred as Roy Cohen in Portland Playhouse’s Angels in America. He has also appeared at Portland Center Stage in the world premieres of Glen Berger’s O Lovely Glowworm and Itamar Moses’ Celebrity Row, for which he received a Drammy Award. He also received Drammy Awards for Jordan Harrison’s Act A Lady and Fin Kennedy’s How To Disappear Completely And Never Be Found and was seen as Scrooge in Christmas Carol, Clown 2 in The 39 Steps, The Old Man in Christmas Story and Scanlon in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. He also has numerous regional theatre, film and television acting credits. His writing credits include the screenplay for the Michael Douglas thriller Falling Down, as well as the play Number 3, a hit for Third Rail Repertory in 2007.

Laura Faye Smith has performed at numerous Portland theatres, including A Christmas Story, Pride and Prejudice, The Thugs, How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found, Frost/Nixon, The Receptionist, A Christmas Carol and JAW 2008 – 11 at Portland Center Stage; Mr. Marmalade at Artists Repertory Theatre; The Receptionist, Boy Gets Girl and Spinning Into Butter at Coho; The Scene at Portland Playhouse; The Heiress and Bash at Triangle! Productions; Charlotte’s Web, The BFG, and Cyrano at Oregon Children’s Theatre; King Lear at Tygres Heart; and The Trip to Bountiful and Uncommon Women at Profile Theatre. She won a 2005 Drammy for her work in The Heiress, and a 2009 Drammy for The Trip to Bountiful. She previously co-produced both Boy Gets Girl and The Receptionist at Coho Theatre. She has over fifteen years of improv experience and studied at The Loose Moose in Calgary, Canada and BATS in San Francisco. Her television credits include TNT’s Leverage, and her voice over work includes voices for the video game This Is Vegas and Dungeon Siege 2.

Casey McFeron has studied at Cornish College of the Arts, American Academy of Dramatic Arts and studied for 5 years in Los Angeles with Doug Warhit. Casey has had guest starring roles on the television shows Leverage, ER, Crossing Jordan, Grimm and Miracles, as well as supporting film roles in The Auteur and The Kill Hole. Casey has performed with Portland Center Stage, Profile Theater, Artist Repertory Theater and Portland Playhouse. Casey is the founding member of Lucky Apple Productions which has produced Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig at the IFCC and co-produced reasons to be pretty at CoHo, winning him a 2011 Drammy Award for his performance.

The wide expanse of Dickens’ novel on the riches and hardships of the Industrial Revolution is triumphantly brought to life in this skillful adaptation of Hard Times for a cast of four. The New York Times says Jeffreys’ adaptation has “heart, humor and twists that keep the audience engaged until the final resolution.”

Coho Productions
CoHo Productions’ mission is to produce high quality and affordable theater in Portland in an intimate setting under a unique collaborative model we call co-production. CoHo invites local theater artists to propose plays for production and our Artistic Council, consisting of established Portland artists of all disciplines, selects three shows per season. CoHo provides the venue, funding, and marketing support for the show, freeing our co-producers to focus on the artistic and technical aspects in which they excel. CoHo serves the entire Portland metropolitan area, with a particular concentration on our Northwest Portland neighborhood.
